Beauty Above Us

Sometimes I think the source of all the world’s problems is a lack of humility. If we all took the time to truly reflect on how tiny we are within this massive planet, and how tiny earth is within the universe, I believe we’d have a little bit more respect for earth. Not to belittle the power of humans, because there are some truly remarkable people out there achieving some noble feats. But collectively I don’t think we realize that there are forces in the world that we will never be able to manipulate, and this fact should ground us.

For anyone who was still awake at 2 a.m. this morning, something happened that was both beautiful and humbling. At this time an astrological phenomenon occurred that serves as proof that there are bigger, greater things happening around us that we should be appreciating. It’s being called a “blood moon” and it’s a total lunar eclipse. This morning was the first of 4 between now and September 2015. Whether or not the nickname blood moon has religious significance is debatable, but there is no denying the majestic orange/red tint that this occurrence is rumored to radiate.

Missed it? The next one is said to arrive on October 8. Mark your calendars and take a minute to remember how astonishing the universe is.
